This month on the blog we are featuring one of our junior dancers who is taking part in our trip to Disney and Las Vegas in the spring. Our entire team will be working hard all season fundraising with Coco Brooks and Ukrainian food sales, bottle drives and other initiatives and will hold a gala evening with a silent auction before we head out on our trip, to raise money. Gracie has worked incredibly hard, both with the team and on her own, to fundraise, and we think that is very admirable! Keep up the great work kiddo! Here is Gracie’s story:
When I heard that I had the chance to join other Snap dancers and go to Disneyland for the dance trip in 2018 I wanted so badly to go! My Auntie Caity talks about when she got to go with the studio to Mexico and it always sounded like so much fun to perform in the big shows. To be part of a team and dance at Disneyland sounded so cool! We get to take some classes during the trip, go on rides and tour California and Las Vegas. I have a bunch of family that lives in California and this would give them a chance to watch me dance live on a stage.
When we decided to go on the trip, my dad and mom sat down with me and gave me a goal to fundraise half the cost of my trip. We wrote down and brainstormed ways I could make money. I started with chores around my house; cleaning out the dishwasher, cleaning up after our dog, cleaning bathrooms and other odd jobs mom and dad had for me. Depending on the job size I got different amounts. Then I started doing jobs for my Nana around her house like cleaning out her basement and helping with yard work. I also helped other family members and my parents friends. We went through my closet and toys and sold whatever I didn’t want or use anymore. Through the summer I collected bottles from various neighbours who knew I was going on this trip. I also, with the help of my mom, passed out order forms for the Ukrainian food order and raised a little over $280 just on that fundraiser! I have reached my goal and now I plan on continuing to do more jobs so I have spending money while we are on the trip!
