At the age of 20, Miss Courtney opened her first dance studio and juggled it with a full-time role as a communications and marketing professional. She now focuses full time on developing dancers and directing Snap Dance Studios. Miss Courtney has been teaching dance for over 20 years and has taken her students on performance tours to Disneyland, all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, England, New York City and aboard Carnival Cruise Lines. Alison Stutz | Studio Director
ADAPT, Acrobatic Arts
For as long as Miss Alison can remember dance has been her passion. Her formal training took place at Drewitz School of Dance in Saskatchewan and Dancentral Studio in Central Alberta. She has been fortunate enough to continue training at Broadway Dance Centre in New York, with the New York City Dance Alliance, and at Pineapple Studios in London. Miss Alison believes that as dancers (and people), we’re always learning and growing, and takes every chance she can to attend classes and workshops. Valuing community, Miss Alison has been a member of the Wild Rose Dance Arts Association since 2009.
Growing up, Miss Alison competed across Canada and the United States, but it was a trip to New York for a competition and workshop with the New York City Dance Alliance that cemented her passion and where she realized she couldn’t live without it in her life. Teaching has taken that passion to a whole new level, one she never thought possible – and she hopes to pass that passion on to her students.
Miss Alison spent four seasons cheering on the Calgary Stampeders as a Calgary Stampeder Outrider, from 2007 – 2010 and remains active with the Outriders and the CFL through the Canadian Football League Cheerleader Alumni Organization. Her time as an Outrider provided the opportunity to dance at various Calgary and area events, and perform at all Stampeder home games, as well as all Grey Cup Championship games alongside artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Theory of a Deadman, Blue Rodeo and Bachman and Turner.
Miss Alison has been part of Team Snap since 2004, and is an ADAPT and Acrobatic Arts certified instructor. Miss Alison also holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications – Public Relations and a diploma in Human Resources, both from Mount Royal. She worked in HR Management and Recruiting for many years before moving into the Director role at the studio, which is now her full-time focus! She is honoured to be part of such an amazing community and have a hand in raising the next generation of amazing young people.
